I only have a few minutes for a quick share. Today I want to touch on THE BLIND LEADING THE BLIND!
Dispatchers, please be completely ready and understand dispatch/driver operations before you set sail. Many times drivers need a little guidance, insight or even explanation on a few things. If you are blind to it, how can you lead them?
I train my dispatchers thoroughly and I prepare them to be leaders to their drivers if the occasion arises. For example, drivers can sometimes see things black and white when it comes to rates and loads. You are the one building out the plan so you may need to explain some of your moves at times. The key idea being that you are skilled and knowledgeable to do so.
